COWSHED – St Moritz Hotel & Spa
Where nature is in charge and you can relax and get pampered in a cozy and rustic luxurious atmosphere.
It would be hard to work in the spa industry and not at least hear about the Cowshed cosmetics and spas. I often visit England and it was just reacently that I went to Cornwall and finally had the pleasure to have my own Cowshed Spa experience as I stayed at St Moritz Hotel.
The hotel is idyllically located on the Cornish coast overlooking the stunning Daymer Bay. The scenery is breath taking and it would be sinful not to enjoy the astonishing outdoors and go for long walks along the beach. But after a beautiful day in the scenic nature or a rainy day, there is nothing better than some relaxing time at the luxurious Cowshed Spa at the St Moritz Hotel.
The Cowshed signature rustic luxurious theme is interlaced in every small detail and gives you the worm and cozy welcoming feeling. Inspired by the original Cowshed Spa at Babington House in Somerset, opened in 1998, the atmosphere and interior design at this spa gives you a ‘home from home’ vibe, where you can relax and unwind.
The Cowshed Spa at St Moritz Hotel features six treatment rooms, as well as manicure and pedicure stations and a relaxation lounge. So once you've chosen your treatments, you can simply hang out and relax with a cup of tea and a magazine for as long as you like.
The spa offers a wide range of treatments from manicures, their signature pedicures, facials and body massage, to cellulite busting scrubs, so a treatment to suit even the pickiest customer’s mood. It is true that the Cowshed Spa is the perfect place to go for an indulgent and rejuvenating experience.
So now let's talk about the main ingredient of Cowshed Spas, the Cowshed cosmetics. A cow shed might be an unlikely place to discover a range of award-winning cosmetic products, but that's exactly where they were born. Namely the first Cowshed Spa was opened in the old cow shed at Babington House, Somerset. Their inspiration for their products comes from the traditional upkeep of the Victorian Walled Garden at the Babington House – and in fact there’s a bit of Babington in every single bottle they produce, thanks to a special herbal infusion sourced from the Victorian Walled Garden itself.
At Cowshed they are in love with their ‘wildcrafted’ plant extracts, organic ingredients and pure essential oils and it’s not surprising that these components make the centrepiece of every single product they create. And by ‘wildcrafted’ they mean that all the ingredients they use are grown in their natural environment, without the use of fertilisers or pesticides. On top of which Cowshed guarantees: no parabens, no petrochemicals, no sulphates, no animal ingredients, no artificial fragrancing or colours and no animal testing – I sure like that.
From Cowshed range of treatments I chose a Cowshed Massage, which is a 60 minute full body massage, where the therapist uses signature Cowshed essential oils and the customer can choose from three moods: soothing, invigorating or deeply relaxing. The massage technique is based on the classical Swedish massage, but it also differs as each therapist can add a personal note to it. For example, the lovely and very professional therapist I had the pleasure meeting added a touch of Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi technique to it and was using her whole underarms to create a very relaxing feeling. The uniqueness of their massages by the therapists adding their own touch to the massage technique has two sides in my opinion, it can be great as it can reflect a personalized touch and the guest can love it, but on the other hand a guest can be disappointed, if the second time at the spa choosing the same massage, his expectations are not met, simply because of a different therapist with different technique skills or a therapist with less knowledge in different massage techniques.
My decision to visit Cowshed Spa at St Moritz Hotel was definitely the right one. I experienced great time at the spa which follows a story about nature, wild ingredients and worm and homely atmosphere. I was definitely the most impressed by the warm interior design that truly creates a luxurious English countryside vibe. Another high of my Cowshed Spa visit is the fact that the guest has the possibility of prolonging the Cowshed Spa Experience by purchasing all quite affordable products used at the spa (shower gel, shampoo, body oil, lotions, creams, candle…). The range of Cowshed products with playful names and thoughtful scents to enhance the customer’s mood is also worthy of praise. My expectations were fulfilled and I got a small tip from the therapist for next time, apparently their pedicures are a must try, so I am already looking forward to my next visit to Cowshed Spa.
-Try to book your chosen treatment at least a week in advance, because they are often fully book due to the large number of hotel guests.
– Do try the Cowshed pedicure, because supposedly it’s the most popular treatment and a must try.
-Despite the navigation system, the St Moritz Hotel & Spa was not effortlessly easy to find, so my advice is to check the location and maps prior to leaving and possibly look it up also on the Google Street View.
